Jose Mourinho: This Man United signing’s performance was phenomenal

The Manchester United manager was very impressed with the performance of Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Jose Mourinho has lavished praise on Manchester United signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic after the striker scored a late winner in the 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace.

The Red Devils appeared to be heading for yet another 1-1 draw after Paul Pogba’s controversial opener was cancelled out by James McArthur in the second half at Selhurst Park.

However, Ibrahimovic managed to anticipate Pogba’s pass before the 35-year-old striker steered a finish into the net with under three minutes remaining in south east London.

The 20-time English champions have now recorded back-to-back Premier League victories after their 1-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford last weekend.

Ibrahimovic has scored nine times in 15 Premier League appearances this season following his summer move to Old Trafford from Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

Speaking to United’s website, Mourinho heaped praise on Ibrahimovic ahead of their next Premier League fixture against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday afternoon.

“I think they both were phenomenal during the game,” Mourinho said.

“The pass obviously is fantastic, the movement is great, the shot is good, but for me I probably prefer what Zlatan did after the goal because that was phenomenal.

“He played in front of the back four, winning every ball in the air, controlling on the chest, cooling down the play, he is phenomenal. It is not just the goals that he scores, it is not just the goal that gives us three points, it is the leadership, the desire, the passion. Fantastic!”

The Red Devils are in sixth place in the Premier League table and six points behind Manchester City in fourth.
