Jose Mourinho: Why this Man United star is amazing me

Jose Mourinho admits that he has been amazed by Zlatan Ibrahimovic's impact at Manchester United this season

Jose Mourinho has admitted that he has been amazed by Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s impact at Manchester United this season.

The Swedish striker has been in top form since his arrival at Old Trafford from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer in the summer.

The 35-year-old has been a regular fixture in the starting line-up for the Red Devils this season and has already scored 11 goals in the Premier League for Mourinho’s men this term.

There had been doubts about whether Ibrahimovic would be able to cope with the rigours of the Premier League during the latter stages of his career.

However, the Swede has proved all of the naysayers wrong with his prolific performances for the Red Devils in recent weeks.

And Mourinho has expressed his delight at seeing Ibrahimovic continue to cut it at the top level for Manchester United this season.

Speaking at a news conference on Friday, Mourinho said: “He will end his career on a high, which is amazing. He’s not ending it in America or China; he’s ending it on the top of the top.

“I’m really pleased with him; his record is really good, and he can improve. With no penalties [among his 16 goals so far], it’s amazing too because normally the other guys who are top scorers score a lot of penalties.

“He had one penalty in 17 Premier League matches, so I couldn’t be happier with him.”
