Jurgen Klopp makes bold claim about Adam Lallana and Liverpool
The Liverpool manager believes the Merseyside club have the best English players in the Premier League
Jurgen Klopp says Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana is one of the best English players in the Premier League.
The 28-year-old continued his scintillating start to the 2016-17 season on Wednesday night after Lallana scored twice in a 3-0 victory at Middlesbrough in the Premier League.
The England international broke the deadlock with a close-range header in the first half before he produced a clinical finish to complete a sweeping counter-attacking move in the second half.
Lallana, who has scored six goals in 15 Premier League appearances this term, made his sixth assist with a precise pass for Belgium international Divock Origi after the break.
Asked if Lallana is one of the best English players in the Premier League this season, Klopp told his post-match media conference on Wednesday night: “In my opinion, we have the best English players – all of them.
“I am fine with them, but I am not long enough here and didn’t see too much about the other teams. It’s not too simple in England to watch football; it was easier in Germany to watch English football than here. But all good, we are happy when he is fit and can perform like this.”
Lallana moved to Liverpool in a £25m deal from Southampton in the 2014 summer transfer window.
The Reds hoisted themselves above Arsenal and into second place courtesy of their superior goal difference.
Liverpool are three points adrift of leaders Chelsea.
