Jurgen Klopp reveals why Chelsea may struggle in title race
Jurgen Klopp says that it is only a matter of time before Liverpool's title rivals suffer with their own injury problems
Jurgen Klopp believes that it is only a matter of time before Liverpool’s title rivals suffer injury problems this season.
Chelsea are currently leading the way at the top of the Premier League table after a brilliant run of form under new boss Antonio Conte.
Liverpool, meanwhile, are aiming to be one of the Blues’ closest challengers for the title as they look to mount a serious title bid this season.
The Reds have been hit with a number of injuries in recent weeks, with playmaker Philippe Coutinho currently sidelines with an ankle problem.
And Liverpool manager Klopp feels that it is only a matter of time before some of the Reds’ rivals suffer injury problems of their own.
Speaking ahead of Wednesday’s Premier League fixtures, Klopp was quoted as saying by Metro: “We have to sort it out now, players will come back, another will leave, we will see how another one develops and take our decisions.
“We take what we get. The difference is, we have had our injury problems already. Other teams will get them because no one will go through [the entire season] without problems. I cannot change it, so I am not worried about it.
“None of these players – Lallana, Firmino, Mane – have played all the time, by the way. They have all had their breaks.
“Chelsea plays with the same team all the time and you don’t ask them if they are worried.
“Hazard and Costa – they play 90 minutes in every game. We cannot change it, so we do not worry.”
Liverpool finished eighth and without a trophy last season, while Chelsea winded up in 10th place and with their title defence in tatters.
