Juventus legend offers Man United record signing Paul Pogba blunt advice
France manager Didier Deschamps offers some advice to Manchester United's record signing Paul Pogba
Didier Deschamps says Paul Pogba needs to focus on doing what is best for the Manchester United team.
The France international has endured a mixed start to his Red Devils career after Pogba completed an £89m move to Old Trafford from Serie A champions Juventus in the summer transfer window.
The 23-year-old has scored two goals and has made one assist in 13 Premier League appearances in the 2016-17 season so far in what has been a muted start to life at Old Trafford.
Manchester United struggled to find their form in the Premier League and have remarkably failed to win eight of their last 11 games to leave Jose Mourinho’s side 13 points behind leaders Chelsea.
France manager Deschamps, who played for Pogba’s former club Juventus during his decorated career, offered the world-record signing some advice about his performances for Manchester United.
“He’s someone who is always catching the eye with a move. He can do things others can’t, but he has to also be in the reality of what is good for the team,” Deschamps is quoted as saying by Manchester Evening News.
“We’re talking about a young player. He’s at a club where he is used in different positions.
“Even when he does things well, it’s never good enough. You can understand why that pushes him to do things that are out of the ordinary but which are not necessarily useful.”
Pogba scored eight times in 35 Serie A games for the Italian champions Juventus last season.
The Red Devils will host Tottenham Hotspur in their next Premier League fixture on Sunday afternoon.
