Wenger gives latest Arsenal injury update ahead of Crystal Palace clash
Arsene Wenger delivers the latest team news ahead of Arsenal's clash with Crystal Palace on New Year's Day
Arsene Wenger has played down injury fears about Theo Walcott after the forward missed Arsenal’s Boxing Day clash over West Brom.
The England international sat out the game with a minor calf problem as Olivier Giroud’s late goal handed Arsenal the three points against the Baggies.
Walcott has been in fine form for Arsenal this season and Gunners fans will be hoping that his spell on the sidelines will not be a long one.
Wenger also delivered an update on Arsenal defender Kieran Gibbs, who was forced off during the win over West Brom after suffering a knock.
Speaking to Arsenal’s website after Monday’s win, Wenger said: “Theo has a small calf problem, but a very small one.”
On Gibbs, he added: “It’s a kick. I don’t know how bad it is, but it’s a kick on the knee.”
Arsenal must now turn their attentions towards their home clash against Crystal Palace on New Year’s Day at The Emirates.
The north London side are currently fourth in the Premier League table as they look to haul themselves back into the title race.
Arsenal finished second in the Premier League last season.
