Wenger delivers latest Arsenal injury update ahead of Man City clash
Arsene Wenger delivers the latest Arsenal team news ahead of Sunday's showdown with Manchester City
Arsene Wenger has revealed that Aaron Ramsey will not be available for Arsenal’s Premier League trip to Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.
The Gunners head into the game looking to return to winning ways in the Premier League after the disappointment of their 2-1 loss to Everton in mid-week.
Ramsey has not featured for Arsenal since the Champions League win over Basel earlier in the month but Wenger confirmed that the midfielder is due to return to training next week.
Wenger told a news conference at Arsenal’s training ground on Friday: “For the City game we should have approximately the same squad who went to Everton.
“Nobody’s back – Ramsey’s not back. He is the closest to coming back and we have some knocks and bruises but they should all be available again.
“Next week I believe he [Ramsey] should be back in the squad in normal training.”
The Arsenal boss also delivered an update on striker Danny Welbeck, who has not featured at all yet this season due to a serious knee injury.
He continued: “Danny Welbeck is one week away from full training. But of course it will take some time [for him to be fully fit] because he hasn’t played for a long, long time.”
Arsenal are looking to win the Premier League for the first time this season since their famous unbeaten triumph in the 2003-04 season.
The Gunners finished second in the Premier League and without a trophy last season.
