Mourinho delivers latest Man United injury update ahead of festive period
Jose Mourinho reveals that Manchester United hope to have Eric Bailly available for the festive period
Jose Mourinho has revealed that Manchester United are hoping to have Eric Bailly back available for the festive period in the Premier League.
Bailly sat out Saturday’s clash with West Brom after he suffered a knee injury in the 2-1 win at Crystal Palace in midweek.
Armenia international Henrikh Mkhitaryan also missed the midweek victory over Crystal Palace in the top flight but his ankle injury is not as serious as first feared.
However, Mourinho has played down the concerns about the duo’s fitness levels and revealed that Bailly is already closing in on a comeback.
Speaking at his news conference before Saturday’s trip to West Brom, Manchester United boss Mourinho said: “He [Bailly] can’t be in this game but it doesn’t look as serious as we first thought.
“Normally we hope to have him back for Christmas period.”
Manchester United finished fifth and won the FA Cup last season before Louis van Gaal was sacked and replaced by Mourinho back in May.
The Red Devils have not won the Premier League since their 2013 triumph under Sir Alex Ferguson.
