Mourinho delivers latest Man United injury update ahead of Sunderland test
Jose Mourinho confirms that Manchester United will have Eric Bailly available for selection for their Boxing Day clash against Sunderland
Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Manchester United will have Eric Bailly available for selection when the Red Devils take on Sunderland in the Premier League on Boxing Day.
The Red Devils defender had suffered a minor knee problem in recent weeks but Mourinho has confirmed that he will be available for the visit of the Black Cats on Boxing Day.
The Manchester United manager also revealed that Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Marcos Rojo are all available for selection, and that defender Luke Shaw is gradually closing in on a comeback.
Speaking at his pre-match news conference on Friday at Carrington, Mourinho said: “It’s good to have everyone available apart from Luke Shaw, who is not far [away]. In the central defender position, we now have all of them.
“Chris Smalling is back, Eric Bailly is back, Phil Jones is fine, Marcos Rojo is fine, Daley Blind is fine, so it’s a position where it’s very important to have some stability in the options. We were in a difficult position a couple of months ago but now we are safe.
“We know that Bailly is going to the African Cup [of Nations] in January but, for the next three matches, we have them.”
Manchester United head into their clash against Sunderland in sixth place in the Premier League table and 13 points behind leaders Chelsea.
The Red Devils are looking to make it four wins in a row in the top flight by beating former manager David Moyes’ Sunderland side at Old Trafford.
