Liverpool legend: Chelsea signing is the Premier League’s best, he’s been phenomenal
Graeme Souness says N'Golo Kante has been the Premier League's standout player this year
Graeme Souness has picked N’Golo Kante as his Premier League player of the year for 2016 following his sparkling displays for both Chelsea and Leicester City.
The France international midfielder earned plenty of new admirers last season for his brilliant displays for Leicester as the Foxes won the Premier League title.
Kante left Leicester to sign for Chelsea in the summer transfer window and has since been a regular fixture in the west London side’s team this season.
Indeed, Kante has continued his fine form and has helped Chelsea build a six-point lead at the top of the Premier League table.
And Liverpool legend Souness has picked Kante as his Premier League player of the year for 2016.
Asked to pick his standout player of the year, ex-Liverpool star Souness told Sky Sports: “N’Golo Kante for me.
“He had a fabulous year at Leicester, he was instrumental in them winning the league and he has continued that form with Chelsea.”
Chelsea will, however, be without Kante when they host Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge on Boxing Day due to suspension.
