Liverpool legend: I’m not going to change my prediction about Arsenal, they won’t win the league

Steve McManaman delivers his blunt verdict on Arsenal's Premier League title hopes this season

Steve McManaman believes that Arsenal still do not have the quality needed to win the Premier League title this season.

The Gunners have earned plenty of praise for their strong start to the campaign in the top flight, with Arsene Wenger’s men still unbeaten since their opening weekend loss to Liverpool back in August.

Arsenal have been in fine form and are challenging Chelsea for the title towards the top of the Premier League table.

There are still some question marks about Arsenal’s ability to sustain their title push through the Christmas period and into the new year, given the fact that the Gunners have not lifted the top-flight trophy since their famous unbeaten triumph back in 2004.

And former Liverpool star McMananman still feels that the Arsenal squad are slightly short of what is needed to win the title.

Speaking on BT Sport’s Premier League Tonight show on Saturday, McManaman said: “I’d like them to be a bit stronger if I’m honest.

“I always think Arsenal are a very good team and I think the manager is a genius – I’ve said that on numerous occasions.

“But I’m not going to change my opinion of what I thought about them in pre-season. I expected them to be in and around the top four – I always do.

“I would like them to have brought in a bit more quality in the summer to overcome that final hurdle and win the league.”
