Liverpool signing issues warning to Chelsea in title race

Sadio Mane is feeling confident Liverpool can still catch Chelsea in the title race

Sadio Mane is optimistic that Liverpool can catch Chelsea in the Premier League title race.

The Blues moved nine points clear of Jurgen Klopp’s side on Saturday afternoon after the west London side team were 1-0 winners against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

However, Liverpool managed to cut Chelsea’s lead to six points after Mane scored an added-time winner in a 1-0 victory over Everton in the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park on Monday night.

Chelsea will have the chance to restore their nine-point lead if Antonio Conte’s side beat Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge on Boxing Day before Liverpool host Stoke City on 27 December.

The Blues will make the long trip to Anfield on 31 January as Liverpool are presented with the chance to land a significant blow to their title rivals.

Speaking to Liverpool’s website ahead of the Merseyside derby on Monday night, Mane delivered his upbeat outlook on the title race.

“I think we have a bit of distance to Chelsea but we all know what can happen in football,” Mane told Liverpool’s website.

“For us, the most important thing is not to think about where they are, it’s to focus on ourselves and go game by game, and try to win the games, until the end of the season.”

Liverpool are in second place in the Premier League table.
