Liverpool signing sends warning to Everton ahead of first Merseyside derby

Sadio Mane is eagerly anticipating his first Merseyside derby on Monday night

Sadio Mane has warned Everton that Liverpool can beat any Premier League club on their day ahead of the Merseyside derby on Monday night.

Jurgen Klopp’s side make the short trip across Stanley Park to take on the Toffees at Goodison Park in search of back-to-back wins.

Mane registered five shots on target but failed to score in Liverpool’s impressive 3-0 win against Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium on Wednesday night.

The Senegal international moved to Liverpool in a £34m deal from Southampton in the summer transfer window during a busy summer of transfer activity.

Mane has scored seven times and has made four assists in 16 Premier League games in the current campaign.

Speaking to Liverpool’s website, Mane lifted the lid on his emotions ahead of his first experience of the Merseyside derby.

“It’s not easy but I think everybody’s used to doing it. I think it’s no problem for us so everybody’s excited and looking forward to this time, I think we can do it,” said Mane.

“I think in the Premier League everything is quite the same, it’s [Everton’s] a tough game [but] why not? I think with the quality we have we can beat every team in the league so I don’t know why we can’t go there and win.”

Liverpool can hoist themselves above Manchester City and into second place in the Premier League table with victory over Everton on Monday night.

The Reds are nine points behind Chelsea.
