Jurgen Klopp states prediction for Liverpool v Man City
The Liverpool manager is anticipating a special game at Anfield on New Year's Eve
Jurgen Klopp is predicting a special game between Liverpool and Manchester City in the top of the table clash at Anfield on New Year’s Eve.
The Citizens hoisted themselves above Liverpool and into second place on Boxing Day thanks to their 1-0 win against Hull City at the KCOM Stadium after Yaya Toure’s late winner from the penalty spot.
However, Liverpool moved back into second place in the Premier League table in style after a 4-1 victory over Stoke City at Anfield on Tuesday evening despite Jonathan Walters giving the visitors a first-half lead.
Liverpool are six points adrift of current leaders Chelsea after 18 games following the west London side’s 12th successive Premier League win.
But the Merseyside outfit have the chance to make a big statement in the title race with victory over Pep Guardiola’s Citizens side at Anfield on Saturday evening.
Speaking at his post-match media conference after Liverpool’s 4-1 win against the Potters on Tuesday evening, Klopp previewed the New Year’s Eve clash.
“It is [a big game]. It is for both. I heard Pep Guardiola was in the stadium tonight; I am not sure he watched a lot of games in the last few weeks from the stadiums of the opponents, so that’s a first sign it’s a special game and we are already looking forward to it,” Klopp said.
“It’s a difficult game for both teams, but exciting and the best thing is it’s at Anfield. I am really looking forward to it. They are an outstandingly good side and we are not too bad, so it will be a nice game.”
