Ray Parlour states his prediction for Liverpool v Man City

The former Arsenal midfielder believes Liverpool will hold Manchester City to a stalemate

Ray Parlour is backing Liverpool and Manchester City to share the spoils when the Premier League title contenders meet at Anfield on New Year’s Eve.

Liverpool are six points behind current leaders Chelsea after 18 games following their impressive 4-1 win against Stoke City at Anfield on Tuesday night.

The Merseyside outfit haven’t lost to a direct rival in the title race so far this season after victories over Arsenal and Chelsea as well as stalemates with Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

Manchester City were 3-0 winners against Premier League strugglers Hull City last time out to bolster their chances of reclaiming the title under new manager Pep Guardiola.

However, former Arsenal midfielder Parlour is predicting a draw between Liverpool and Manchester City on Saturday evening in what would be a good result for pacesetters Chelsea.

“It’s a very hard game to call. Liverpool are very good at home. If Manchester City want to catch Chelsea, they’ve got to be going there and getting a result. I’m going to sit on the fence on this one and go for a draw,” Parlour told the Alan Brazil Up Front podcast.

Liverpool have beaten Middlesbrough, Everton and Stoke City in their last three games.
