Paul Merson states his prediction for Liverpool v West Ham
Paul Merson looks ahead to Liverpool's clash with West Ham United on Sunday afternoon
Paul Merson is backing Liverpool to return to winning ways in style with a 3-0 thumping win over West Ham United on Sunday in the Premier League.
The Reds slumped to a surprise 4-3 defeat by Bournemouth last weekend despite leading twice by two goals against Eddie Howe’s men before their second half collapse.
It was Liverpool’s first defeat in the Premier League since August and left them in third place in the table heading into this weekend’s round of games.
West Ham are preparing to travel to Merseyside to take on Jurgen Klopp’s men as the east London side look to reverse their stuttering form.
And former Arsenal star Merson is tipping the Reds to have too much for the Hammers at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
Writing in his column for Sky Sports, Merson said: “The last 20 minutes against Arsenal was just terrible and I fear for West Ham. Another 10 minutes and it could have been eight.
“They are shipping goals left, right and centre and could be in real trouble this weekend if Liverpool get on a roll.
“I can’t see anything other than a comfortable home win, and I’m actually being kind to the Hammers with my prediction. It could be much worse.”
Liverpool finished eighth in the Premier League and without a trophy last season after Klopp was appointed as the club’s manager back in October 2015.
