Ian Wright states bold prediction for Man City v Arsenal
The Arsenal legend is backing Arsene Wenger's side to beat Manchester City
Ian Wright is backing Arsenal to beat Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Gunners will be looking to make a swift return to winning ways after a 2-1 loss to Everton at Goodison Park on Tuesday night.
Arsene Wenger saw Arsenal’s 14-game unbeaten run come to an end after goals from Seamus Coleman and Ashley Williams cancelled out Alexis Sanchez’s deflected opener.
Arsenal were relegated to third place in the Premier League table after Liverpool were 3-0 winners against Middlesbrough on Wednesday night.
Manchester City moved to within a point of Arsenal after Pep Guardiola’s men eased to a 2-0 win against Watford at the Etihad Stadium.
Former Arsenal striker Wright believes the Gunners should beat the Citizens on Sunday afternoon and underline their status as genuine title contenders.
“I’m lumping on Arsenal as well,” Wright told The Sun Goals podcast.
Wright continued: “It’s the kind of game I think Arsenal can go and win. People are talking about Arsenal getting bullied the other day. They weren’t bullied out of it. Everton rallied and played really well. Arsenal missed a couple of chances.”
Arsenal finished in second place in the Premier League table last season.
The Gunners signed five players in the summer transfer window last term, including German defender Shkodran Mustafi and Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka.
