Man United signing moves to play down concerns ahead of Middlesbrough clash
Henrikh Mkhitaryan plays down concerns about his fitness levels after Manchester United's win over Sunderland
Henrikh Mkhitaryan has insisted that he has fully recovered from injury and is now only focused on performing for Manchester United in the coming weeks and months.
It had been a slow start to life for Mkhitaryan at Old Trafford following his summer move to the club, as he struggled for form and fitness in the opening few weeks of the campaign.
However, the Armenia international has begun to show glimpses of just why Manchester United moved to sign him in the summer transfer window in recent weeks with a number of sparkling performances for the Red Devils.
Mkhitaryan had been sidelined with an ankle injury and he made his return as a 61st-minute substitute in Manchester United’s 3-1 win over Sunderland on Boxing Day and scored one of his side’s goals.
And the midfielder now insists that he is fully fit and ready for action in the build-up to Manchester United’s clash with Middlesbrough at Old Trafford on New Year’s Eve.
Speaking to Manchester United’s website, Mkhitaryan said: “I don’t have anything of concern from a past injury so I’m happy to be back and I’m happy to be back to help the team.
“I will try to do my best for the next game. It’s very important that we’re in good shape and to keep going like this.”
