Man United to compete with Arsenal for France midfielder – report
Manchester United are lining up a move to sign France midfielder Dimitri Payet, according to reports
Manchester United are set to do battle with Arsenal over the signature of West Ham United midfielder Dimitri Payet, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Star is reporting that the Red Devils have entered the race for the France international as Jose Mourinho looks to further bolster his squad in the January transfer window.
The same article states that Arsenal have been long-term admirers of the former Marseille man but Arsene Wenger will now face competition from the 20-time English champions.
Payet has scored two goals and has made five assists in 15 Premier League appearances in the 2016-17 season so far after his spectacular debut campaign last term.
The France playmaker netted nine times in 30 games in the 2015-16 Premier League season.
Manchester United are in sixth place in the Premier League table but only four points adrift of fourth-placed Arsenal in the race to secure a place in next season’s Champions League.
The Gunners have lost back-to-back Premier League games following defeats by Everton and Manchester City.
