Ray Wilkins states prediction for Man United v Sunderland

The former Manchester United midfielder is backing the Red Devils to beat Sunderland at Old Trafford on Boxing Day

Ray Wilkins believes Manchester United will continue their excellent Premier League form on Boxing Day when the Red Devils host Sunderland at Old Trafford.

The 20-time English champions have started to find their feet in the Premier League in recent weeks thanks to three successive victories.

Manchester United started their run with a morale-boosting 1-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils were 2-1 winners against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park last week before a 1-0 victory at West Brom at the weekend.

Sunderland, on the other hand, have lost three of their last five Premier League games as David Moyes prepares to return to his former employers.

Speaking to the Alan Brazil Podcast ahead of Manchester United’s clash against Sunderland on Boxing Day, Wilkins backed the Red Devils to secure a fourth successive Premier League victory.

“Sunderland aren’t travelling too well,” Wilkins said.

“They’re not playing well at all – bottom of the league and struggling. So it’s going to be a tough ask for Sunderland. Manchester United will put teams under pressure. They’re starting to fly now. I can only see a Manchester United win.”
