Man United want to wrap up first January signing and hand him this shirt number – report
Manchester United reportedly want to sign Victor Lindelof as soon as possible and hand him the number two shirt at Old Trafford
Manchester United want to complete the signing of Benfica defender Victor Lindelof as soon as possible, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Star is claiming that the Red Devils are aiming to wrap up and announce the signing of the defender as soon as possible and could complete the deal before the January transfer window opens next week.
The same report suggests that Manchester United could hand the defender the number two shirt at Old Trafford, with the number 14 shirt he currently wears at Benfica occupied by Jesse Lingard.
The same story also claims that Lindelof’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is in advanced talks with Manchester United as the transfer approaches its conclusion, but that the move has been delayed until now because of a dispute between Benfica and the player’s former club Vasteras.
Manchester United were one of the Premier League’s busiest clubs in the summer transfer window as new manager Jose Mourinho signed Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Eric Bailly.
The Portuguese coach is currently getting to grips with life at Old Trafford following his appointment in the summer.
