Man United legend: Alexis Sanchez can emulate Eden Hazard and fire Arsenal to the title
The former Manchester United midfielder believes Alexis Sanchez could fire Arsenal to the Premier League title
Owen Hargreaves believes Alexis Sanchez could carry Arsenal to the Premier League title this season.
The Chile international scored a second-half hat-trick in the Gunners’ 5-1 victory over West Ham United in the derby at the London Stadium on Saturday evening.
Sanchez’s mesmerising performance came just hours after Eden Hazard netted in Chelsea’s impressive 3-1 win against title rivals Manchester City at The Etihad.
Hazard scored 14 times in 38 Premier League games as the Belgium international helped to fire the Blues to the 2014-15 Premier League title under Jose Mourinho.
The Arsenal forward is just three goals behind Hazard’s title-winning tally with 24 games to play in the current campaign.
Former Manchester United midfielder believes Chelsea and Liverpool have better teams than Arsenal but Sanchez could make up the difference.
“I thought he was incredible. Eden Hazard carried Chelsea to the title a couple of seasons ago,” Hargreaves told BT Sport’s Premier League Tonight show.
“The way Sanchez played today, he could carry Arsenal to the title. There are better teams, Liverpool and Chelsea, but the way he played today was one of the best individual performances I’ve seen in a long time.”
Sanchez moved to Arsenal in a £35m transfer from La Liga side Barcelona in 2014.
The South American has won the FA Cup since his big-money switch to Arsenal from Barcelona.
The Gunners finished in second place in the Premier League table in 2015-16.
