Martin Keown: This is who Chelsea need to sign in the January transfer window

Martin Keown says Chelsea should look at signing a new forward and left wing-back in the January transfer window

Martin Keown believes that Chelsea should move to sign a forward and another left wing-back in the January transfer window to help sustain their Premier League title challenge.

The Blues have emerged as the favourites to win the top flight crown this season following their remarkable upturn in form under new manager Antonio Conte.

Chelsea have secured Premier League top spot over Christmas as they now look to carry their impressive form into the hectic festive period in the Premier League.

There is bound to be plenty of speculation about who the top clubs could look to sign in the new year as the January transfer window draws ever nearer.

Former Arsenal star Keown does not feel that the Blues need too many reinforcements but says that there are two key positions that could do with strengthening.

Speaking to The Daily Mail, Keown said: “There are not too many changes you need to make. There is a lot resting on Diego Costa and I don’t see another Costa in this group.

“Conte played two strikers at Juventus and with Italy so he might be on the lookout for another forward. He may also need to look at another left wing-back.”
