Matteo Darmian responds to Man United transfer rumours
Matteo Darmian has his say on suggestions that he could be set to quit Manchester United
Matteo Darmian has played down rumours that he could be set to leave Manchester United in the coming transfer windows.
The Italian defender has found his first team opportunities under new manager Jose Mourinho somewhat restricted this season following the Portuguese coach’s appointment as the club’s new boss back in May.
The 27-year-old was limited to six Premier League starts in United’s first 15 games of the top flight campaign as he has been forced to watch from the sidelines for the majority of matches.
However, the Italy international insists that he knows nothing about the suggestions that he could be set to leave Old Trafford and insists that he is only focused on performing for the Red Devils.
Darmian is quoted as saying by Metro: “I play for one of the biggest clubs in the world so I’m happy.
“I listen and read about the transfer but I don’t know anything. At the moment, nothing is true. I will continue to do my job and want to stay here.
“I’m a natural right-back but playing on the left is not a big problem. I’ve been at left-back the last few matches and I feel comfortable in that position.”
The Italian defender will be hoping to feature when the Red Devils travel to West Brom in their final Premier League game before Christmas this weekend.
