Mauricio Pochettino’s response when asked about Tottenham’s interest in England winger
The Spurs boss is remaining tight-lipped on speculation linking Tottenham with a move for Wilfried Zaha
Mauricio Pochettino has remained tight-lipped on speculation linking Tottenham Hotspur with a move for Wilfried Zaha.
The Daily Mail reported that the Tottenham manager is set to rekindle his interest in the England international after Crystal Palace’s change of managers.
Ex-England boss Sam Allardyce has replaced Alan Pardew in the Selhurst Park hot-seat after the Eagles suffered a 1-0 loss to Chelsea in their last Premier League game.
Tottenham were heavily linked with a move for the former Manchester United midfielder in the summer but a move failed to materialise as Palace kept hold of their winger.
And Pochettino, whose side will make the trip to Southampton on Wednesday evening, refused to give any indication to whether Zaha is a legitimate Tottenham target ahead of the January transfer window.
“I like good players and maybe he is a good player,” Pochettino told Sky Sports.
“But I don’t like to start focusing on some names. Then you start a rumour.”
Tottenham finished in third place in the Premier League table last season after challenging Leicester City throughout much of the 2015-16 campaign.
Spurs signed five players in the summer transfer window.
