Michael Carrick: This Man United player is frightening, there is more to come

Michael Carrick has described Anthony Martial’s talent at Manchester United as “frightening”.

The French striker has made something of a slow start to life at Old Trafford this season after enjoying a stellar breakthrough campaign last term.

Martial scored twice in the 4-1 win over West Ham United in the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup on Wednesday night as Jose Mourinho’s men returned to winning ways.

However, the forward has struggled to hold down a regular spot in the starting line-up under Mourinho and has scored just once in the Premier League this season.

But Manchester United midfielder Carrick insists that he has no doubts about Martial’s ability after his two-goal haul in midweek.

Carrick is quoted as saying by The Daily Express: “The ability and attributes he has got are frightening at times. When he is on fire he is a threat to anyone.

“He started the game terrifically well against West Ham. And he grew as the game went on. It is great to see him playing like that. He is fully confident and believing.

“There is plenty more to come from him, which is a good sign for us.”

Manchester United are currently preparing for their Premier League trip to face Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon.
