Michael Owen reacts to Bayern Munich v Arsenal in Champions League last-16 draw on Twitter
The former Liverpool and Manchester United striker admits Arsenal have received a stinking Champions League draw
Michael Owen admitted that Arsenal have been handed a “stinking draw” in the Champions League last 16 after Arsene Wenger’s side were pitted against Bayern Munich.
The Gunners managed to finish top of Champions League Group A ahead of Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain thanks to their impressive 4-1 victory over Basel in Switzerland last weekend.
The north London outfit haven’t reached the Champions League quarter-finals since 2010 after the Gunners endured a disappointing run in the knockout stage over the past six years.
Arsenal have been beaten twice by the German champions in the round of 16 in the past four seasons.
Wenger’s side were eliminated on away goals in 2012-13 despite winning 2-0 at the Allianz Arena after a 3-1 loss to Bayern at the Emirates Stadium.
In 2014, Bayern eased to a 2-0 victory over Arsenal in north London before a 1-1 draw in Germany to send Wenger’s men packing.
Former Liverpool and Manchester United striker Owen delivered his verdict on Arsenal’s tough last-16 draw against Bayern in the Champions League on Monday morning.
Another stinking draw in the round of 16 for Arsenal. Bayern Munich await. Good draw for City getting Monaco.
