The former Liverpool centre-forward Michael Owen reacts to Sadio Mane's winner at Everton

Michael Owen hailed a huge result in Liverpool’s season after Sadio Mane scored an added-time winner at Everton.

The Reds looked to be heading for a goalless draw with the Toffees after Brazil international Roberto Firmino was twice denied in the second half at Goodison Park.

However, Senegal international Mane broke the deadlock in the fourth minute of added time in the Merseyside derby after substitute Daniel Sturridge hit the woodwork with a low shot.

Liverpool are in second place in the Premier League table and six points behind leaders Chelsea after 17 games.

Former Liverpool striker Owen took to Twitter to react to Mane’s close-range strike after the retired England international watched the pulsating derby in the stands at Goodison Park.

Liverpool finished in eighth place in the Premier League table last season after Klopp took over the reins from Brendan Rodgers back in October 2015.

The Merseyside outfit have never won the Premier League title despite finishing in second place in 2009 and 2014.
