Mourinho lines up Uruguay striker as Man United replacement for Ibrahimovic – report
Jose Mourinho wants to sign PSG striker Edinson Cavani to bolster his Man United strike force, according to reports
Jose Mourinho wants to sign Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani as a long-term replacement for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Express are reporting that Manchester United are keeping tabs on the Uruguay international ahead of making a swoop for the PSG forward, whose future in the French capital is in doubt.
The same article states that Cavani is unsure whether he wants to remain at the Ligue 1 holders despite talk of PSG offering the South American a new three-year contract.
Ibrahimovic completed a free transfer to the Red Devils from PSG in the summer transfer window after a decorated spell at the French giants.
The 35-year-old centre-forward has successfully made the transition to the Premier League from Ligue 1 after a return of eight goals in 15 top-flight appearances so far this season.
Manchester United are in sixth place in the Premier League table but just six points adrift of fourth-placed Manchester City after 15 games.
The Red Devils finished fifth and won the FA Cup last season before Louis van Gaal was sacked and replaced by Mourinho in May.
