Nacho Monreal: Why Alexis Sanchez has hit top form for Arsenal

Nacho Monreal delivers his verdict on Alexis Sanchez and his start to life at Arsenal this season

Nacho Monreal has heaped praise on Alexis Sanchez for the strong start he has made to the season with Arsenal.

The Chile international has been earning plenty of praise in recent weeks for his impressive performances for the Gunners.

Sanchez has earned a reputation as one of the Premier League’s top players since his arrival at the club from Barcelona in the summer of 2014.

The 27-year-old has been in fine form so far this season and has already scored more than 10 goals in the Premier League for Arsene Wenger’s men.

And Monreal has discussed what he sees as Sanchez’s best attributes for the north London side.

Speaking in an interview with Arsenal’s website, Monreal said: “He’s such a complete player.

“He’s very good in the air despite the fact he’s not the tallest. He has a great shot on him, his positioning is very good. He chips in with the goals and really, he has everything.

“What I would say is that it’s his ambition that makes him such a great player. He just wants more at all times and for example, if he gets subbed off when we are winning 3-0, he’s not happy because he wants more, he wants to play more and he wants to keep improving.

“That’s good for him, because he keeps pushing himself and it’s good for the team because it obviously gives us that driving force.”

Arsenal finished second and without a trophy last season.
