Nemanja Matic sends warning to his Chelsea team-mates

Nemanja Matic warns his Chelsea team-mates not to get carried away by their recent stunning form

Nemanja Matic has warned his Chelsea team-mates not to get carried away by their position at the top of the Premier League table.

The Blues continued their fine form in the top flight on Saturday lunchtime as they secured a 1-0 victory over West Brom thanks to Diego Costa’s first-half goal.

That win was Chelsea’s 11th in a row in the Premier League and firmly placed them in the driving seat in the race for the title this season.

Chelsea’s brilliant form under new boss Antonio Conte is in stark contrast to their stuttering displays last season.

However, midfielder Matic has warned his team-mates not to read too much into their current form as the hectic festive period in the Premier League approaches.

Speaking in an interview with Chelsea’s website after Saturday’s win, Matic said: “It is a long way to go.

“We are now almost halfway through the season and we still have many hard games so we are not favourites, we are just one of the teams that can now win the title and I am sure there are more than five teams that will try to catch us for first position.”
