Owen Hargreaves: These are my concerns about Chelsea in title race
The former Manchester United midfielder is worried about the effect injuries could have on Chelsea's title bid
Owen Hargreaves has warned Antonio Conte that injuries to Chelsea’s key players could derail their Premier League title bid this season.
The Blues recorded an incredible 11th straight Premier League victory on Saturday afternoon thanks to their 1-0 win against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
Diego Costa netted his 13th goal in his 17th Premier League appearance of the current campaign to seal three points in the London derby in Saturday’s early kick-off.
Chelsea haven’t lost a top-flight fixture since September and have set the west London club’s best-ever winning run in the Premier League thanks to Costa’s first-half winner.
Antonio Conte’s men have already secured top spot in the Premier League table for Christmas Day and Chelsea have gone on to win the title whenever they have previously been sitting at the top of the table on 25 December.
Speaking to BT Sport’s Premier League Tonight show, former Manchester United midfielder Hargreaves lifted the lid on his concerns about Chelsea in the title race.
“It looks that way [Chelsea are favourites for the title]. But what I would say is that an injury to Costa or Hazard and that’s a different Chelsea team,” Hargreaves said.
“They’ve been exceptional, credit to Conte, but they’re one injury away from having issues. It’s difficult for them to replace Hazard or Costa.”
