Pat Nevin tells Antonio Conte: This Chelsea signing could be spectacular

The former Chelsea winger is expecting big things from Michy Batshuayi

Pat Nevin believes Chelsea still haven’t seen the best of Michy Batshuayi.

The Belgium international has struggled to secure a regular starting spot in Antonio Conte’s side this season following his £34m move to Chelsea from Ligue 1 side Lille in the summer transfer window.

Diego Costa’s prolific form has also kept Batshuayi out of the Chelsea side after the Spain international scored a staggering 12 times in his opening 15 Premier League games of the 2016-17 campaign.

The former Atletico Madrid striker has managed to avoid picking up an injury in the current campaign despite the west London side’s over reliance on the 28-year-old centre-forward.

But should Costa suffer a fitness setback, former Chelsea midfielder Nevin believes Batshuayi can fill the Blues striker’s void if required.

“At the moment Chelsea still haven’t found out just how good Michy Batshuayi will be with a run in the side. He might be spectacular, a revelation even,” Nevin told Chelsea’s website.

Batshuayi has scored one goal and has made one assist in 10 Premier League appearances in the current campaign, although the Belgian striker has come on as a substitute nine times.
