Paul Ince delivers verdict on Liverpool’s title prospects
The former Liverpool midfielder believes Jurgen Klopp's side are genuine title challengers this season
Paul Ince believes Liverpool are genuine Premier League title contenders this season.
The Merseyside outfit are in second place in the table and a point behind current leaders Chelsea after 13 games.
The Reds haven’t lost a Premier League game since a 2-0 defeat by Burnley in their second game of the 2016-17 season.
Liverpool have already beaten title contenders Arsenal and Chelsea in the current campaign, while Klopp’s side have played out stalemates with Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
Klopp took over the reins from Brendan Rodgers back in October 2015, and the former Borussia Dortmund manager led the Reds to an eighth-place finish in his first season in charge.
Former Liverpool midfielder Ince explained why he believes that the Merseyside club are refreshingly strong contenders for the title.
“We’ve only played a third of the season, so it’s too early to say for certain whether this is Liverpool’s year– but the fact is they are up there at the top and playing some of the best football around. You can’t deny they’re strong contenders. Liverpool are competing from the offset and that is huge,” Ince told Paddy Power.
Liverpool will make the long trip to Bournemouth in their next Premier League fixture on Sunday afternoon.
