Paul Ince: Liverpool deserve to be challenging for the title
The former Liverpool midfielder delivers his verdict on Jurgen Klopp's title contenders
Paul Ince believes Liverpool deserve to be challenging for the Premier League title this season.
The Reds headed into the Premier League weekend in second place ahead of the clash between leaders Chelsea and third-placed Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
Liverpool aren’t in action until Sunday afternoon when Jurgen Klopp’s side take on Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium in search of back-to-back Premier League victories.
The Merseyside outfit have scored 32 times in 13 games in the Premier League and have managed to keep successive clean sheets despite doubts surrounding their defence.
Liverpool are currently priced as third favourites to win the Premier League crown behind Chelsea and Manchester City.
Former Manchester United midfielder Ince is delighted to see the 18-time English champions competing in the title race.
“The brand of football they’re playing is great – it’s exciting and they are a joy to watch. 32 goals in 13 games says all you need to know,” Ince told Paddy Power.
“They’ve hit four or more goals past five different teams already this season! The fans really feel that something special could happen this year. I know how much the fans want it. They would love that Premier League title and they deserve to be up there with the big boys.”
Liverpool booked their place in the EFL Cup semi-finals on Tuesday night thanks to a 2-0 victory over Championship side Leeds United on Tuesday night.
The Reds will take on Southampton in the last four of the League Cup on 10 January.
