Paul Merson predicts the scoreline of Man City v Chelsea

Paul Merson looks ahead to Chelsea's Premier League clash against Manchester City on Saturday

Paul Merson is tipping Manchester City to hold Chelsea to a 2-2 draw in their Premier League clash at The Etihad on Saturday lunchtime.

Chelsea head into the game looking to maintain their hugely impressive form, with Antonio Conte’s men having won all seven of their last Premier League games.

Indeed, the Blues are flying high at the top of the Premier League table following a remarkable upturn in form under their new manager.

Chelsea were 2-1 winners over Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge last weekend as they kept their one-point lead at the top of the table.

However, the west London side are set for a stern test of their title credentials when they take on Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side at The Etihad on Saturday.

And former Arsenal star Merson is expecting to see the two teams share the spoils on Saturday.

Writing in his column for Sky Sports, Merson said: “I can’t wait for this one. This match ticks every box. I’m expecting a humdinger as both teams will be well rested after a week off. Chelsea only need to get a draw out of this game. Not losing would be a big, big result.

“I’m interested to see how Guardiola gets on trying to break through Conte’s formation as everyone who has tried to break them down has struggled.

“Although Chelsea don’t let in goals, I can see this being full of them.

“If Chelsea can stop Manchester City scoring in this game, then they’ll be massive favourites to win the Premier League. I can’t see it though as City’s firepower is frightening and will find ways to open this Chelsea team up. However, City’s defence just don’t do clean sheets in big games. I’m going for a high scoring draw. Desmond.”
