Paul Scholes makes prediction about Man United and Europa League
The Manchester United legend is backing Jose Mourinho's side to win the Europa League
Paul Scholes is tipping Manchester United to win the Europa League this season.
The Red Devils booked their place in the last 32 on Thursday night thanks to a 2-0 victory over Ukrainian side Zorya Luhansk in cold conditions after goals from Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The 20-time English champions endured a mixed campaign in Europe’s second-tier competition after suffering defeats by Feyenoord and Fenerbahce on the road in the Europa League.
Manchester United reached the last 16 of the Europa League last season before the Red Devils lost 3-1 to bitter rivals Liverpool on aggregate before finishing in fifth place in the Premier League.
However, Champions League winner Scholes insists he isn’t worried about any of Manchester United’s potential opponents in the Europa League ahead of next Monday’s last-32 draw.
“I wouldn’t be worried by any of them teams,” Scholes told BT Sport.
“United have got a strong squad and are playing some really good football, and rightly so they’re favourites to win this competition.
“I can see them going all the way. There isn’t one team in there that worries me.”
Manchester United appointed Jose Mourinho as their new manager in May after a disappointing second season under Van Gaal.
The Red Devils signed four players in the summer transfer window as Mourinho looked to leave his stamp on the club.
