Pedro: This is the major change Antonio Conte has made at Chelsea
Pedro says Chelsea's players are fitter than ever this season under Antonio Conte
Pedro believes that the main change Antonio Conte has made at Chelsea this season is getting his players fitter than they were last term.
The Italian manager is known for his demanding approach to training and preparation and the former Juventus boss has earned plenty of praise for the strong start his Chelsea side have made to the new season.
Chelsea are flying high at the top of the Premier League table and have firmly established themselves as the favourites to win the title this season.
The Blues’ upturn in form is in stark contrast to their struggles last season, when they ended up 10th in the table and without a trophy after the sacking of Jose Mourinho last December.
And Spanish winger Pedro feels that the improved fitness levels of the Chelsea squad this season has been a major factor in their strong start to the new campaign.
Speaking in an interview with The Telegraph, Pedro said: “I have worked with many managers, but this is the one who has made us train the hardest, definitely.
“But it’s very good because you can see the results of it.
“It’s not just me, everyone in the team is very physically fit right now. We’re all very fit, unlike last year when we weren’t that fit and we were not really at the top.
“This year, Diego [Costa] and everyone, we are all very fit and we are all working really hard.”
