Pep Guardiola replies when asked if he’s interested in signing Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal
Pep Guardiola responds to claims that he is interested in bringing Alexis Sanchez to Manchester City
Pep Guardiola has rubbished claims that he has been in contact with Alexis Sanchez about the possibility of bringing the Arsenal star to Manchester City.
Sanchez has firmly established himself as one of the Premier League’s top attacking players since his arrival in England from Barcelona in the summer of 2014.
The Chilean played under Guardiola during the Spaniard’s spell in charge at Camp Nou before his eventual transfer to The Emirates two years ago.
Sanchez has been in blistering form for Arsenal so far this season and has already scored 11 goals in the Premier League for Arsene Wenger’s men to help them up to second place in the table.
There have been suggestions that Sanchez could be a possible transfer target for Manchester City.
However, Guardiola has dismissed those claims and insisted that there is no substance to the rumours.
Asked about the reports, Guardiola was quoted as saying by The Daily Express: “Absolutely false.
“The journalist is a liar. He’s a liar. Alexis Sanchez would fit in any team in the world.
“If you read the newspapers in the last six months, since I became a coach at Manchester City, maybe I have had contact with 126 players to buy for Manchester City.
“Dembele is another one. Every week I have contact for the next season to change players. Alexis was the last one.”
Arsenal finished second and without a trophy last season.
