Per Mertesacker reacts to Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Stoke City on Twitter

The Germany defender is pleased that the Gunners are sitting at the top of the Premier League table

Per Mertesacker has taken to Twitter to celebrate Arsenal’s 3-1 victory over Stoke City at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday evening.

The Gunners made a conspicuous start to their Premier League clash after the hosts conceded a first-half penalty following Granit Xhaka’s challenge on Joe Allen.

Charlie Adam broke the deadlock from the spot with a confident penalty to threaten Arsenal’s 13-game unbeaten run in the Premier League this term.

However, Arsene Wenger’s side were level before half-time after England forward Theo Walcott levelled in the 42nd minute.

Germany midfielder Mesut Ozil edged the Gunners into a second-half lead after a superb header just four minutes after the break.

Alex Iwobi came off the bench to score his first Premier League goal of the season just days after opening his account in the Champions League.

Arsenal club captain Mertesacker took to Twitter to celebrate the Gunners hoisting themselves above Chelsea and into spot in the Premier League table.
