Phil Jones names the Everton player Man United must stop
Phil Jones is wary of the threat posed by Romelu Lukaku ahead of Manchester United's trip to Everton
Phil Jones has told his Manchester United team-mates that they must be at their best if they want to keep Romelu Lukaku quiet in Sunday’s clash at Everton.
The Red Devils head into the game looking to get back into form in the Premier League after their recent run of disappointing results in the top flight.
Jose Mourinho’s side were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by West Ham United at Old Trafford last weekend to leave them well off the pace in the race for a top-four finish.
Mourinho’s men did return to winning ways in midweek when they beat West Ham 4-1 at Old Trafford to reach the semi-finals of the EFL Cup.
Jones is now focused on Sunday’s clash against the Toffees and is preparing to take on the threat of Lukaku.
Speaking to United’s website, Jones said: “He’s a big, strong boy who scores goals and is a handful so we’re wary of that.
“But it’s not just him, there are other players in their team that can cause damage.
“Every game brings a different challenge and we’ll be ready for that on Sunday.”
Manchester United finished fifth and won the FA Cup last season under Louis van Gaal before the Dutchman was sacked and replaced by Mourinho.
