Phil Jones speaks up for Man United manager Jose Mourinho
Phil Jones insists that all of the Manchester United squad are fully behind Jose Mourinho
Phil Jones has insisted that all of Manchester United’s players are behind new manager Jose Mourinho this season.
It has been something of a stuttering start to life at Old Trafford for Mourinho since his appointment as the club’s new manager back in May.
Manchester United have struggled to produce consistent performances in the Premier League and are currently well off the pace in the race for the title.
The Red Devils have earned praise for their performances but have struggled to convert those displays into points.
However, despite the inevitable pressure falling on the shoulders of the new man in charge at Old Trafford, Jones insists that Mourinho has the full backing of the Manchester United squad and that all of the players are behind their boss.
Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports before Sunday’s clash with Everton, Jones said: “He is great, passionate, honest and his passion rubs off on the players and you can see that out on the pitch.
“All the players fight for him and it is a great feeling at the moment.
“He is what he is and that is why he is great. Like he is with you, he is like that with us.
“That is all you can ask, for a manager to be honest and tell you how things are.
“If you need telling, you need telling and he has done that for every player and you can see that out on the pitch.”
Manchester United finished fifth and won the FA Cup last season under Louis van Gaal.
