Phil Thompson is tipping Liverpool to win the Premier League title this season.

The Reds have been one of the most consistent teams in the Premier League this term in what is Jurgen Klopp’s first full season in charge at Anfield.

Liverpool scored a dramatic late winner against Everton on Monday night to lift themselves into second place in the table and six points behind leaders Chelsea heading into the hectic festive period.

The Reds, like Chelsea, do not have the distraction of European football this season as they focus purely on domestic affairs and finishing as high as possible in the table.

And former Liverpool man Thompson is hoping to see the Merseyside club pip Chelsea to the title this season.

Asked who he thinks will win the Premier League this season, Thompson told Sky Sports: “I know what everyone thinks I’m going to say – so I’ll say it!

“The best team has been Liverpool and I think we’ve got a better chance than most.

“It’s still up in the air but I hope it’s going to be Liverpool.”
