The Arsenal midfielder reacts to scoring his first Champions League goal
Alex Iwobi has expressed his delight to open his Champions League account after Arsenal’s 4-1 victory over Basel on Tuesday night.
The Nigeria international netted the north London side’s fourth goal after Lucas Perez’s hat-trick in Switzerland.
Iwobi’s goal helped Arsenal secure top spot in Champions League Group A after Paris Saint-Germain drew 2-2 with Ludogorets in the French capital.
The Gunners are unbeaten in Europe this season after four victories and two stalemates in their six group-stage matches.
The Nigeria international has now scored one goal and has made three assists in 16 appearances in all competitions this season.
And Iwobi posted the above photo on his Instagram page and wrote the following caption after his first Champions League goal:
“Pleased To Get My First Champions League Goal But Most Importantly, Good To Finish Top Of The Group! 👌🏾 #BIG17”
Arsenal are bidding to reach the Champions League quarter-finals for the first time since 2010.
The Gunners have never won the Champions League despite finishing as runners-up in 2006 after a 2-1 loss to Barcelona.
The north London outfit are in second place in the Premier League table.
