Alexis Sanchez has taken to social media to declare that “the best is yet to come” after he celebrated his 28th birthday this week.

The Arsenal forward was powerless to prevent the Gunners from slipping to a 2-1 loss to Manchester City at The Etihad on Sunday afternoon to compound the disappointment of their defeat by Everton just days before.

Those two damaging losses have dealt a serious blow to Arsenal’s Premier League title hopes, with the north London side now trailing leaders Chelsea by nine points heading into the festive period.

Another concern for Arsenal fans will be Sanchez’s future at the club beyond the summer of 2018.

The Chilean is believed to be in talks with the Gunners about the possibility of extending his current deal at the club, which has 18 months left to run.

However, the attacker seemed to be in good spirits on Tuesday evening as he posted a picture of himself relaxing with one of his dogs on Instagram.

He shared the picture and wrote the caption: “Thank you to everyone who wished me happy birthday! The best is yet to come. 😉😉💪🏼”

Sanchez will be expecting to feature for Arsenal when the Gunners host West Brom on Boxing Day in the Premier League.
