The German legend was thrilled to get his first minutes of the 2016-17 season under his belt in Manchester United's 4-1 win
Bastian Schweinsteiger has expressed his delight at finally ending his Manchester United exile after his cameo performance in their 4-1 win over West Ham United in the EFL Cup last eight on Wednesday night.
The German legend has been out of favour under Jose Mourinho following the former Chelsea manager’s appointment as Louis van Gaal’s successor at Old Trafford at the end of the 2015-16 season.
Schweinsteiger was sent to train with Manchester United’s Under-21s before the World Cup winner was brought back to the first-team squad ahead of their 2-1 loss to Fenerbahce in the Europa League at the end of October.
However, the 32-year-old appears to have won his manager over after Schweinsteiger was named on the bench for their 1-1 draw with West Ham United in the Premier League last weekend.
And the Bayern Munich icon finally got his chance to get some first-team minutes under his belt after his three-minute cameo in a 4-1 victory over the Hammers on Wednesday night.
Schweinsteiger posted the above photo on his Instagram page and wrote the following caption: “Amazing evening with a perfect result. Thanks for the warm welcome at Old Trafford! @manchesterunited”
Manchester United travel to Everton on Sunday.
