Bastian Schweinsteiger reflects on his 2016 as a Manchester United player
Bastian Schweinsteiger unveiled his Manchester United highlight on Instagram as the German legend reflected on his Old Trafford career.
The Germany international moved to the Red Devils in a £6.7m deal from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in the 2015 summer transfer window under Louis van Gaal.
While Schweinsteiger struggled to inspire the 20-time English champions to Premier League glory, the 32-year-old defensive midfielder did win the FA Cup after the club’s 2-1 extra-time victory over Crystal Palace in the FA Cup at Selhurst Park.
The German has struggled to have an impact under Van Gaal’s replacement Jose Mourinho and the seven-time Bundesliga champions has made just one appearance in the 2016-17 season so far in the EFL Cup quarter-final in November.
However, Schweinsteiger appears to be pretty happy with his 2016 despite his current struggles at Old Trafford, posting the above photo on his Instagram page and writing the following caption:
“2016 has been a very exciting year for me with many highlights like winning my first trophy with @manchesterunited.”
Manchester United are in sixth place in the Premier League table.
