The Manchester United midfielder was delighted with his goal in their 3-1 win against Sunderland on Boxing Day
Henrikh Mkhitaryan dedicated his goal to the Manchester United supporters after the Red Devils were 3-1 winners against Sunderland at Old Trafford on Boxing Day.
The Armenia international scored his second Premier League goal of the 2016-17 season against the Black Cats following the attacking midfielder’s £30m move to Manchester United from Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund.
The 27-year-old managed to back-heel Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s cross past Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford to seal three points on Monday afternoon as Manchester United eased to victory over their former manager David Moyes.
Mkhitaryan has scored two goals in eight Premier League appearances in the current campaign after a slow start to life at Manchester United following his big-money move in the summer transfer window.
The summer signing opted to dedicate his wonder goal to the club’s supporters as he described his goal as his Christmas present.
Mkhitaryan posted the above photo on his Instagram page and wrote the following caption:
“A little Christmas Magic today! Super happy for the win! 😊 #mufc”
Manchester United are four points behind fourth-placed Arsenal in the race to secure a place in the Champions League.
