Loris Karius was putting the finishing touches on his Christmas tree at home as the Liverpool goalkeeper prepared for his first festive season on Merseyside.

The German joined the Reds from Bundesliga side Mainz in the summer transfer window but has endured a difficult start to life in the Premier League.

The shot-stopper was immediately handed the number one shirt at Liverpool following his transfer but has lost his starting spot to Simon Mignolet in the last two games following a string of disappointing displays.

However, the German goalkeeper looked to be in high spirits nonetheless as he completed his Christmas tree at home.

Karius shared the photo above on his personal Instagram account and wrote the caption: “All preparations done 🙌🏼🎄 Christmas can come! 🎅🏻 How do you spend your holidays? ✌🏼 #xmas #LK1”

It remains to be seen whether Karius or Mignolet will start up front for Liverpool when the Reds return to Premier League action on 27 December with a home clash against Stoke City.
