Luke Shaw has revealed that making his return from injury with Manchester United during the Community Shield win over Leicester at Wembley back in August was the highlight of his 2016.

As the clock ticks down on 2016 and 2017 draws ever nearer, Shaw was clearly feeling in a reflective mood on social media.

Shaw had been sidelined for most of the year after suffering a horrific broken leg in the Champions League back in 2015.

He worked hard on his recovery and was restored to the starting line-up for Manchester United as he played 69 minutes of the 2-1 win over Leicester City in the Community Shield at Wembley at the start of August.

And the left-back picked out that game as his highlight of the year as 2016 draws to a close.

Shaw posted the picture above on his personal Instagram account and wrote the caption: :Making my first competitive game back from injury was the highlight of the year for me. Didn’t leave empty handed either 🏆 #TBT”
